Woodcut: a knight's helm

The razor.

What is it made of?
Stainless steel, polished smooth. It comes apart into its pieces for cleaning and goes back together by hand.
How big is it?
120 mm long with a 50 mm head. It sits like a pen in the hand, not like a toy.
What does the dial do?
It lowers the baseplate in eight steps, which opens the gap between the blade and the guard. Setting 1 is the gentlest, setting 8 the most aggressive.
How do I clean it?
Rinse it under hot water after every shave and let it dry standing up. Once a week, unscrew the head and rinse the parts.
Is there a version in black or with engraving?
No. There is one razor, in polished steel.
Woodcut: a knight shaving, checking his cheek in a mirror

Shaving.

Is a safety razor hard to learn?
It takes about a week. Start on setting 1, use no pressure and keep the angle near thirty degrees. The shaving guide walks you through it.
Will I cut myself?
A small nick or two in the first week is normal and heals by the next morning. A styptic stick stops the bleeding in seconds. Pressing too hard is the usual cause.
Is it good for sensitive skin?
For most men, yes. A single blade passes over the skin instead of five, and it doesn't pull hairs up before cutting them. Start on setting 1 or 2.
Can I shave my head with it?
Yes. Use a low setting, plenty of lather, and a mirror for the back.
Which setting should I use?
Answer three questions on the razor page and we'll tell you where to start.
Woodcut: a sealed packet of blades

Blades.

Which blades fit?
Every standard double-edge safety razor blade, from any maker. Ten come in the box.
How long does a blade last?
Four to six shaves for most men, three for a heavy beard. Change it when it starts to tug.
How do I throw old blades away safely?
Keep them in a small tin or a blade bank, and recycle it as metal when it's full.
Do you sell blades by subscription?
No. A packet of 100 costs €14 and lasts about two years. Order it when you need it.
Woodcut: a knight riding with a sealed parcel

Shipping.

Where do you ship?
To every country in the European Union.
How much is shipping?
Free on orders over €75. Below that, standard shipping is €6. Express is €14.
How long does it take?
Orders placed before 2 pm on a working day leave the same day. Standard takes 3 to 5 working days, express 1 to 2.
Is it tracked?
Always. We email you the tracking link when the parcel leaves.
Can I fly with the razor?
The razor, yes. Blades must go in checked luggage, or buy a packet when you land.
Woodcut: the steel stand

Returns &
guarantee.

What is the 30-night trial?
Shave with the razor for thirty nights. If you don't want to keep it, send it back and we refund the full price. Used is fine.
How do I return something?
Write to hello@vigil.example with your order number. We send a prepaid label.
What does the lifetime guarantee cover?
The razor itself, for as long as you own it. If it bends, cracks or the dial stops working, we repair or replace it free. Blades and balm are not covered; they are meant to be used up.
Do I need a receipt?
No. Your name or email is enough for us to find the order.
